Macklemore is currently readying his upcoming album, Ben, but found himself trending in the wake of the 65th Annual Grammy Awards and its conclusion on Sunday (Feb. 5). With Beyoncé failing to win the Album of the Year award at the Grammys, Twitter believes the record-breaking songstress was snubbed similarly to how some feel Kendrick Lamar was in 2014.
As some might remember, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ The Heist was up for the Best Rap Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards against tough competition in Drake for Nothing Was the Same, Jay-Z for Magna Carta Holy Grail, Kanye West for Yeezus and Kendrick Lamar for Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.
By most critical measures and based on the reactions from fans, K-Dot had the best project but failed to notch the win which sparked months of debate over the viability of the Grammys as it relates to Hip-Hop music and culture.
Now with Beyoncé’s Renaissance losing out to Harry Styles’ Harry’s Dream album, the Grammys snub talk is at an apex. Still, the Houston superstar still made history by becoming the winningest artist ever in Grammy Awards history and still has plenty of artistry left inside her to deliver to her supportive fanbase. It might even be something to ponder whether or not Beyoncé even cares about winning the AOTY nod. We’ll never truly know until she lets us in on her thought process.
To those keeping scores at home, this year the Grammys awarded Best Rap Album to Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which some alleged is just to make up for the 2014 snub.
On Twitter, folks are putting Macklemore back in the mix for reasons outside his control. Check out those reactions below.

This is the same institution that snubbed MJ in his Off The Wall era. And gave Macklemore Best Rap Album over good kid m.A.A.d. city. Never underestimate the capacity for audacity!!!!!

I was thinking about the Macklemore Grammy win the other day. He didn’t only beat Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city. He also beat Kanye West’s Yeezus, Drake’s Nothing Was the Same and Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail. The category was loaded!

2014: GKMC snubbed by Macklemore for RAOTY.
2016: TPAB snubbed by Adele for AOTY.
2018: DAMN. snubbed by some random woman I have never heard of before or since then for AOTY.
2023: MMATBS snubbed by fucking hairy styles for AOTY.

All the Kendrick Grammys not gonna make up for giving the award to Macklemore over him those many years ago.

Macklemore beating Kendrick for Best Rap Album, and Beyonce getting snubbed for Lemonade are the two greatest snubs of all time. Up there with Angela Bassett losing for “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and Denzel Washington losing for “Malcolm X”.

Pusha should’ve won this Grammy. But they’re making up for the time they gave Macklemore the golden gramophone the same year Kendrick dropped one of the best rap albums of all-time. I’m still sick.

every Grammys should be legally required to dedicate 20 minutes of silence to remind people that they gave Macklemore the award for best rap album instead of Kendrick Lamar

The fact that Macklemore won best rap album over Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city tells you everything you need to know about the Grammys.

Harry Styles is the Macklemore of this year's Grammys. Sucks to get an award you should be ashamed of, but it is what it is, and everyone knows it. That album is mid-tier hipster chill pop from a decade ago. Objectively wrong, and the problem is white nonsense.

I don't value an award show that gave Macklemore a Grammy over these classics pic.twitter.com/3hVrCWE9h3
