Oakland Rapper Ovrkast. has opened up about his ongoing legal battle with OutKast.
The legendary Atlanta duo reportedly filed a lawsuit against Ovrkast. over his stage name, claiming it is too similar to the group’s name. The legal battle came as a shock to the Oakland MC, who expressed his disappointment over the situation.
In a series of posts, Ovrkast. explained that the situation has been an ongoing battle behind the scenes for some time.
“There’s a lot that I’ve been dealing with emotionally/mentally this past year behind closed doors regarding this whole situation. So before you criticize please remember that I am the newer and younger artist trying to figure my way.”
Ovrkast. also clarified that he never signed an agreement with OutKast and said he tried to cooperate throughout the process.
“For the record, I NEVER signed any agreement. I tried my hardest to cooperate with different options every step of the way. This narrative that I’ve done wrong is also wrong. (had to clarify) peace.”
According to the lawsuit, Ovrkast. allegedly agreed to change his name to OVERKXST. After he reportedly failed to make the change by the agreed-upon deadline, OutKast took further legal action
