Netflix is bringing Young Thug’s infamous YSL RICO trial to our living rooms with a new documentary that will take viewers inside one of Hip-Hop’s most talked-about legal cases.
The highly publicized trial captivated audiences as prosecutors attempted to prove that Young Thug’s record label, YSL, was a criminal street gang. Now, Netflix has gathered footage from the proceedings for a 90-minute documentary titled Young Thug On Trial.
Fans can expect in-depth look at the twists and turns of the case, from the courtroom drama to the moments that ultimately led to Thugger’s release. In 2024, the Atlanta rapper pleaded guilty to multiple charged and received a sentence that includes 15 years of probation.
“Major feature documentary covering the extraordinary rise and trial of Jeffery Williams, aka Young Thug, and his band of brothers from the streets of Atlanta,” the Netflix description reads. “Prosecutors set out to prove that he and his music label were actually a criminal street gang. High drama meets farce in this incredible story where a city and even rap itself are on trial.”
While Netflix has yet to announce an official release date, the documentary is expected to arrive in 2027.
This also isn’t Netflix’s first time taking a deep dive into the world Hip-Hop. In 2022, the streaming platform released jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, chronicling Kanye West’s rise to fame. More recently, 50 Cent executive-produced a Netflix documentary centered on the allegations and legal troubles surrounding Diddy.
With Young Thug On Trial on the way, viewers will soon get another look at a case that had the entire Hip-Hop community watching as it unfolded.
