Sergio Hudson is taking his signature fashion designs from the runway to the playground with his first-ever kidswear line. And the inspiration behind the capsule is someone very special to him: his godson Croi.
“Most of it was inspired by my godson Croix, who’s actually in one of the pictures and in the ad campaign,” Sergio told HelloBeautiful exclusively about his new collaboration with Carter’s OshKosh and Harlem’s Fashion Row.
He smiled as he shared that Croix has been picking out his own clothes since he was about 2 years old.
Sergio’s newest collaboration comes as his namesake brand celebrates 10 years and stays in celebrity rotation. Last month, Sergio presented his Spring/Summer 2027 collection at NYFW, inspired by his version of the Bond girl. Everything we know and love about Sergio Hudson’s designs came down the runway: bright monochromatic looks, sophisticated silhouettes, powerful feminine designs and impeccable tailoring.
After revisiting his fashion classics and turning them on their heads, Sergio is putting his spin on another American classic: OshKosh. So, you already know these aren’t your average playground clothes.
I’ve covered Sergio for years, attended his NYFW shows, and even explored his Volvo fashion collaboration up close. But this was my first time seeing him design for the little ones.
OshKosh and Harlem’s Fashion Row invited me to an exclusive preview of the collection during Carter’s holiday showcase. And as someone who absolutely loves Christmas, the October event had me smiling. We’re talking Christmas trees, snowflakes, wrapped gifts and holiday mocktails.
But the best gift of the afternoon? Getting an up-close look at Sergio’s new collection.
Sergio Hudson Gives OshKosh The Fashion Treatment
As an ’80s baby, I remember when OshKosh overalls were the thing. Wearing them to the playground, school or wherever your parents took you meant you were one of the best-dressed kids on the block. Even before we knew what “best dressed” was.
Sergio remembers, too.
“This is iconic as like a Ralph Lauren to me,” he said, explaining why the collaboration was an immediate yes.
He revisited classic denim jackets, overalls, tracksuits and hickory stripes, adding his signature saturated colors and matching pieces. “I kind of Sergio-tized it,” he joked.
He also personalized the buttons, labels and stripes with both brands’ names. His famous monochromatic approach made it into the collection, too.
“I love a monochromatic moment,” he told me. Sergio continued, saying, “[the collection] has great pieces that you can include in your children’s wardrobe and mix it up, which is what I do with my line.”
His Godson Croi And Two Daughters Helped Shape The Collection
“I feel like a kid should look like a kid,” he explained as he discussed kids dressing their ages. His two daughters, ages 13 and 15, also influenced his thinking. “I put a hoodie in the collection for them because that’s all they wear,” he joked.
Croix, meanwhile, even selected his own outfits during the campaign shoot. Sergio loved watching him make the clothes his own.
The limited-edition OshKosh x Sergio Hudson collection arrives October 22 at select stores and carters.com. In addition to the hoodies, pieces include aviator jackets, trainsuits, and, of course, overalls. Sizes range from 12 months to 14 years, with prices from $22 to $45.
Sergio has dressed some of our favorite women, and his next chapter includes a much younger fashion crowd.
Something tells me the coolest kid on the playground might be wearing Sergio Hudson.
