Elon Musk, aka Bootleg Tony Stark, had the internet (mainly Tesla stans) salivating when he unveiled his “flying” Tesla Roadster, but one person, Marques Brownlee aka MKBHD, wasn’t so quick to give Musk all the praise, and people are BIG MAD about it.

Brownlee is one of the most popular tech reviewers in the world, so when he says he’s not feeling something, his words carry a lot of weight.

Everyone was blown away by Musk’s presentation for his long-awaited Tesla Roadster EV, which showed the vehicle making its way up a curved ramp, glued to it via a vacuum fan system, before launching off the ramp upside down, performing flips in the air, and using thrusters to right itself and land on the tarmac.

In another stunt, the Roadster took a page out of Knight Rider’s book by jumping over several Tesla vehicles, including a semi-truck, flipping upside down, then using its thrusters to land.

Musk also boasted that the vehicle could reach 230 mph and that the production Roadster could target half the speed of sound, or Mach 0.5 (383 mph). During the presentation, the Roadster did 0-60 mph in less than 1 second (0.81 seconds) in a test.

While Tesla stans and MAGA faithful are excited about Musk’s new EV, Brownlee wasn’t immediately sold.

On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “They really just got on stage and said this newly designed 4000+ pound car can do flips and go half the speed of sound (380+mph) and will ship in 2028. This is a prank, right?”

He later followed up with a video explaining why he believes no one, including himself, will be able to buy the rocket version of the car.

“There’s no way you or I will be able to buy this car. We might as well ignore this becoming a real product. The base one, the fan car one, I can see that being possible. But at this point, I don’t even think it matters, because Tesla has proven to us that the Roadster is by far their least important product,” Brownlee said in his video.

He even questioned if the car would be street legal, adding, “There were several parts of that demo that would not be street legal. The ring extending past the bumper is the easy one. Same with McLaren W1. Maybe this is a GPS restricted track/drag only feature?”

Welp.

Social Media Reacted To Marques Brownlee’s Reaction

Brownlee’s criticism of the Roadster, and his skepticism that it’s real, didn’t sit well with some on social media, who immediately called him a hater and accused him of having EDS (Elon derangement syndrome).
