NFL Will Not Punish Eagles in Jalen Hurts’ Blood Clot Situation

The NFL will reportedly not discipline the Philadelphia Eagles following questions surrounding the team’s handling of quarterback Jalen Hurts’ medical condition.

According to The Athletic, the league determined that the process used to clear Hurts to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on October 11 was “handled appropriately.” The NFL will not issue punishment over the medical clearance process or the team’s failure to list Hurts on the injury report for that game.

The decision comes after Hurts was diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his left calf before the matchup. Further testing later revealed deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs, leaving the Eagles quarterback expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni defended the organization’s medical staff amid growing scrutiny, stating, “I fully trust the people that are involved in helping us all make these decisions.” While the NFL’s review clears the Eagles of punishment, questions remain among fans and sports commentators about the circumstances surrounding Hurts’ initial diagnosis and clearance to play.

Hurts is reportedly stable and expected to make a full recovery. His absence, however, presents a major challenge for Philadelphia as the team looks to regain its footing during the 2026 season.
