Latest ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Teaser Has Fans Speculating Captain America Isn’t Captain America

We’re still two months away from the highly anticipated world premiere of Avengers: Doomsday, and while rumors and theories are still running rampant about what will happen in the film, one theory seems to have gained traction in the latest Doomsday TV spot.

Over the weekend, Marvel Studios dropped a quick 30-second commercial featuring Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) calling Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) Cap, even though Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is currently Captain America in the MCU. Still, Rogers turns to look at Ant-Man as if he’s still Captain America. That led many online heads to once again suggest that Steve Rogers isn’t actually Steve, but rather Loki pretending to be Steve Rogers.

Sounds complicated, we know, but if you’ve been keeping up with the MCU for the last decade and change you’d understand. Also, Loki does indeed possess the ability to turn into whoever he wants to, and as for him being able to hold Thor’s hammer, Mjölner, in other trailers for the film, his redemption arc in the Loki series can easily explain why he’s worthy of holding Thor’s hammer now (pause?).

That said, another theory suggests Steve Rogers is actually the evil Captain Hydra from another timeline, secretly working with Dr. Doom to take down the Avengers from the inside before the real Captain America returns to save the day in the upcoming 2027 sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars.

Whatever the case may be, we have heard that test screenings for Avengers: Doomsday scored higher than those for Avengers: Endgame, and we all know how amazing Endgame was when it released in 2019. That says something, and we can’t wait to see if it’s true when Doomsday hits theaters on December 18th.

Check out the latest teaser spot for Avengers: Doomsday below, and let us know in the comments whether you think this is actually Captain America or Loki pretending to be Cap.
