When it comes to “tricking,” Drake can’t be touched. Still, according to the Toronto native, his generosity toward women goes beyond intimacy after jokingly being labeled a “trickster” by Victoria Monét.

Promoting her new album Frequency of Love, Monét sat down with Complex for a fun conversation that eventually turned to “tricking” and the difference between the act and simply being generous.

Drake, no stranger to buying extravagant gifts for women, came up immediately, with Monét jokingly calling the Toronto musician a “professional trickster” and a “trickmaster.”

Drake Describes His Generosity As A “Return on Investment In Your Soul”

The rapper, who recently dropped HABIBTI (FOMO DELUXE) after his YouTube short film Fear of Missing Out, had time and hopped into Complex’s comment section to clarify why he loves spending his money on women.

“There’s a return on investment in your soul for doing things for people who you feel deserve it,” the rapper said.

“Whether you feel that way in the moment and they prove otherwise over time, or it’s a gesture to acknowledge consistent love and loyalty, the difference is there isn’t an expectation on the other side.”

He continued, “It’s self awareness that you have been blessed with an obscene amount of money and joy is the emotion that excites you the most. So once you have experienced enough joy from material things for yourself sometimes the only is to see the joy on faces after unexpected gestures for others. Transactional exchanges with the expectation of intimacy are a different frequency.”

Well, we guess we can see the Birkin bags he gifted a fan and, to Sexyy Red, the $10K he gave to J Mulan as acts of sincere generosity. Still, the Iceman makes it hard on himself to beat the allegations about his track history.

But you know what they say, “it ain’t tricking if you got it.”
