Many consider the standard XBOX controller to be the best option overall for Xbox and PC, but it also has some glaring issues. SteelSeries aims to address some glaring issues with its new controller, the Aeon Pro.

SteelSeries continues to market itself as the brand that supplies all your gaming needs because, at this point, you have to ask: what don’t they make?

With the Aeon Pro, SteelSeries aimed to deliver what is essentially the most advanced and, at $260 the most expensive controller ever made, and it boasts impressive features that justify its asking price. I have been using the controller for the past few weeks, and in my humble opinion, it’s the best thing to happen to XBOX and PC gaming.

“Infinite” Juice & Seamless Swapping

Like many of SteelSeries’ products, mainly the company’s exceptional headsets like the Arctis Nova Elite and Omni Pro, the Aeon Pro takes full advantage of SteelSeries’ beloved infinite battery technology.

Along with steller sound design, software, and hardware, infinite battery helped make SteelSeries a leader in the headset space by removing the worry of plugging in to charge and letting gamers swap out the battery to stay in the game.

With the Aeon Pro utilizing that feature, that continues to be the case because you can swap out the battery for a fresh one that conveniently charges in the dock that can sit on your desk or gaming setup.

The dock also lets you switch seamlessly between Xbox and PC thanks to separate USB-C ports on the back of the dock. You can also connect via Bluetooth through the controller itself, a welcome feature for gamers like me who play across multiple platforms.

You can also switch modes through the Aeon Pro, which lets you know what mode you are on via the built-in OLED Smart Display, which is also a visible feature that I absolutely love and helps the controller stand out from the rest.

Premium Feel & Design

You will immediately notice that the Aeon Pro feels like a $260 controller thanks to Hall-effect thumbsticks paired with a glossy Xbox-layout of ABXY buttons, tactile switch connections, and four programmable paddle buttons located behind the controller.

The Aeon Pro’s left and right triggers also feature two-stage Hall-effect sensors, and all of the buttons, bumpers, paddles, and even the D-pad, as well as the triggers, deliver the most satisfying audible click when put in the short-throw position, which, I might add, helps eliminate the dreaded stick drift.

The wrap-around grip keeps your hand secure during intense single-player or online gaming sessions, keeping you locked in on the moment.

The Eon Pro also features a Modular Stick System offering different thumbstick styles to complement your gaming style.

Final Thoughts

Before picking up Aeon Pro, Razer’s Wolverine V2 Chroma, released back in 2021, was my go-to controller for XBOX and PC gaming.

That is no longer the case; the Aeon Pro has swiftly taken that spot, and for me there is no looking back. For years, I have had a love/hate relationship with the standard XBOX controller due. While it delivers on many fronts, the issues seem to mount up quickly, whether it’s stick drift or the buttons, especially the trigger buttons sticking, totally ruining my experience and forcing me to get another controller.

The Aeon Pro eliminates all of that, and while yes, it is $260 dollars, it will be one of the best investments you will make because you will be using it for years to come.

After using the Aeon Pro for XBOX and PC, it left us hoping and praying SteelSeries is out there cooking up a PS5 controller as well.

You can head to the SteelSeries website right now to purchase the Aeon Pro controller and other SteelSeries products.
