Doug E. Fresh closed out the first night of the One Voyage Cruise with a performance to remember.
Headlining the festivities, the legendary Human Beat Box ran through his catalog of classics, giving cruisegoers a chance to hear fan favorite records like “The Show” and “La Di Da Di.” However, the crowd went into a frenzy when he performed “Let Me Clear My Throat,” turning the cruise into one big party.
In the middle of the excitement, Doug E. Fresh made it a point to shout out Black excellence and recognize Ms. Cathy Hughes, the founder of Urban One.
“We’re talking about a black owned, radio conglomerate, give it up for the beautiful, powerful, Cathy Hughes.”
The Harlem MC also took fans on a fun interlude, playing “Teach Me How To Dougie” and bringing Rickey Smiley onstage to show off his dance moves.
Smiley hitting his dougie was definitely not on our bingo cards.
Alongside Fresh, Teddy Riley and Major helped set the tone for Night 1 of the One Voyage Cruise, keeping the energy high with their own performances.
Riley pulled up dressed in all white and had the party jumping as he ran through his classic catalog. Hip-Hop Wired also caught a moment backstage between Riley and Fresh as the two legends acknowledged each other and showed mutual respect.
The King of New Jack Swing also shared a message with One Voyage Cruise attendees, encouraging everyone to keep the celebration going throughout the week.
“Keep partying and don’t stop, live life to the fullest and keep God first.”
With Doug E. Fresh closing out the night on a high note and Teddy Riley bringing his classic to the festivities, the first night of the One Voyage Cruise was a success.
